Kyle Kane is the co-owner of MK Furnishings, a family-run children’s furniture company he co-founded with his brother-in-law Jack in 2016. What started as a small operation in Northern Ireland has grown into a trusted brand delivering thousands of custom-built kids’ beds to families across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Kyle is involved in every part of the business, from product design and materials selection through to order management, delivery logistics, and in-home assembly. His hands-on approach means he works directly with families to make sure each bed fits the room, meets safety requirements, and holds up to everyday use. This same family-led service will support the company’s planned expansion into Australia in 2027.

The Journey
MK Furnishings began when Kyle and his brother-in-law Jack saw a gap in the market for well-made, practical kids’ beds that families could actually afford. Working from Northern Ireland, they started designing and building custom bunk beds themselves, handling everything from the initial build through to delivery and assembly in the customer’s home.
Word spread quickly. Within a few years, MK Furnishings had delivered thousands of beds across the UK and expanded into Ireland with a dedicated operation at mkfurnishings.ie. The product range grew from basic bunk beds into triple bunks, L-shaped configurations, loft beds, cabin beds, castle beds, and beds with built-in storage, slides, and staircases.
Following the brand’s growth across the UK and Ireland, Kyle and the MK Furnishings team plan to bring the company’s children’s furniture range and family-led service to Australia in 2027 through mkfurnishings.com.au.
The planned Australian expansion will focus on helping families manage bedroom space and storage needs through practical, customisable bed designs, supported by professional delivery and assembly.

With a decade of experience in the children’s furniture industry, Kyle has developed practical knowledge of custom bed design, space-saving configurations, storage integration, and safe sleep solutions for children of different ages. MK Furnishings beds supplied within the UK and Ireland are designed with EN 747 requirements in mind, including considerations for guardrail heights, gap dimensions, ladder stability, and structural integrity. As part of the planned Australian expansion in 2027, the product range will be reviewed against the relevant Australian requirements, including AS/NZS 4220 for bunk beds and other elevated beds.
Kyle’s design priorities reflect real family needs: maximising bedroom floor space, integrating practical storage into the bed frame, using moisture-resistant engineered board and solid timber reinforcements for durability, and offering customisation options including colour choices, vinyl name personalisation, and flexible stair placement.
